Too Much...

That's what it all boils down to...too much. Just too much to do. I'm feeling so incredibly overwhelmed with all the things we have coming up. Of course I'm the room mom for Ryan's class...and on practically every PTA committee out there. Then there's this whole RA thing at church that I have to plan...how do you plan interesting lessons for boys who range in age from 6-12? I have no clue, but I guess I'm getting ready to find out. I have to help plan our big new study for Sunday School. I'm on a zillion different church committees...*sob* Oh, I forgot that we're coaching Ry's soccer team and that Caroline starts dance and gymnastics this month. And Moms in Touch starts Tuesday. Is it possible to do it all? I guess I'm trying.

On the upside, Ryan is really enjoying school. So far, so good. He's really impressing me! Caroline starts her preschool next week and she's ready. That means I'll have a few hours 3 mornings a week....gasp!...ALONE! Guess that will give me some planning time for all the stuff I have to do! Maybe I can even take a nap!

I want to write about the book I'm reading now. It's called Captivating. But that will have to wait for another time.

Spelling...or lack thereof

For SS's FOB2Y this week, there was a fun spelling quiz! I missed a couple, but no clue what they were! Oh well...try it for yourself. :)

Your Common Spelling Mistake Score: 90% Correct

Your spelling is excellent.

You don't fall for common spelling pitfalls, and you spell almost everything correctly.

Wow, It's Here...

Ryan's first day of school...I can't believe it. We dropped him off a couple of hours ago and I'm just now able to sit down and actually write about it. He did so great! He's a bit shy and clingy when something's new or he's nervous...but he was so awesome today! After a bit of hanging out, he actually pushed us out the door. My tears started before we even got to the car. I just can't believe he's not here at home with me. Caroline's feeling confused, too. She keeps talking to him, then realizes he's not here. She even tried to give him a snack earlier. Poor thing, she's so used to having RyRy with her all the time that she doesn't know what to do! I guess I don't either. The house is so quiet without him...Caroline's playing and having fun, but she's just so different than him. I feel like a huge piece of me is missing and I don't like it. I keep checking the clock, counting down the hours until I can pick him up...wondering if he's having fun, if he's participating, if he's eating his lunch, if he's nervous or afraid...I guess that's my biggest fear...that he's afraid and I'm not there for him. We are so incredibly blessed that we know his teacher and about a third of his classmates from church...without that, I seriously don't know if I could have let him go. I know that today is the beginning of something big...his school career...and I hope that I've given him all the tools he needs to be successful and, more importantly, happy.

Here are some pics of him, and us, this morning. See that smile? At least one of us is happy!

Truthful Tuesday

So today is apparently "Truthful Tuesday." Great. I'm in a bit of a fog right now. Ry starts kindergarten tomorrow and it's killing me. I had no idea I'd have this reaction. I thought I'd be happy to send him to school...I know school is good for kids, especially ones that need routine, structure, and discipline like he does. I also looked forward to having a bit more me time. But instead, I'm this blubbering bundle of tears. What in the world? This only makes me question even more what kind of mother I am. I am this tower of self-doubt when it comes to my mothering abilities. I never ever ever think I'm a good enough mommy. I look at some of the other moms...their perfect hair, perfect nails, perfect make-up, chic clothes...all at the grocery store. I'm there in my sweats, hair pulled back, no make-up, struggling with 2 kids and a giant buggy. I wonder what that says about me? Lots of days we don't even put on decent clothes...we're just hanging out around the house, playing outside, doing crafty stuff...you know, getting DIRTY. Why put on decent clothes? But these other moms do. They also do it for soccer, T-Ball, and going to the mall. Am I a bad mom because I can't pull it all together? Mothering is hard work! I can't even begin to imagine doing it in heels every day.

Quiz Time!

A Sweet Shoppe FOBTY quiz...This quiz is all about what kind of American accent you have. It's interesting that it pretty much says I don't have an accent...when we lived in the piedmont of NC, I'd say my mountain accent pretty much disappeared...but now that we've been back for 2 1/2 years, I'm surprised it's not showing up on the quiz. Oh well, LOL...at least I have a good TV accent!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The South
Philadelphia
The West
The Inland North
The Northeast

I finally gave in...

I never dreamed I'd have a blog. Who blogs, anyway? Certainly not someone like me. I'm boring, dull, normal...I don't have anything interesting to say...or do I? As I begin this blog, I'm realizing I have more to say than I thought...Shane probably knows how much I have to say, but maybe I'm just realizing it.

So, it's late, I'm awake, and I now have a blog. Who knew?
