Good Weekend

We had such a fun time at the game on Saturday. We tailgated w/ some friends and just really enjoyed it. The game itself was pretty good, too! ASU really dominated (as they should) and came away with a 56-7 win. Good times!

Sunday was just a normal day...Sunday School, Church, etc. Shane did take the kids up to Tweetsie to give me a little break before another long week started. It was "Railfan Weekend," and both kids had a blast.

As for me, nothing major going on...one bit of excitement...Bree Clarkson of Sweet Shoppe Designs asked me to be on her CT! I'm so excited and surprised!!! I can't wait to get started for her...her Launch Pads are amazing! Soooooo...yay for me!!!

So. Tired.

I'm so tired. Who knew that starting K and preschool would be so tiring for both the kids and me? I'm exhausted. I need a nap. Badly.

Good news is that Shane's coming home tonight. It's been a long week without him here. Maybe I can even sleep in tomorrow!

Speaking of tomorrow, App's first home game is tomorrow!!!!!! Hopefully the rain won't make it here...I prefer my football cames to be dry. So excited, though. I love football season. Here's a little highlight video for you!

Another First Day

Yesterday was Caroline's first day of preschool. She only goes 1/2 day, 3 days a week at our church, and she went last year, but it was a huge deal for her! She's been missing Ryan so much since he started K, and this little break is perfect for her. She was sooooo excited! She loves her new backpack (just like Dora!) and feels like a big girl. I'm so proud of her.

And here's Ry Ry...still loving school and loving his backpack, too. :)
So, life is good. The kids are happy in their schools. I just miss them like crazy. They grow so fast...

Truthful Tuesday

Sometimes I don't feel like a grown up. Sometimes I can't believe I'm a wife, let alone a mom. Sometimes it doesn't feel real.

I don't know when it happens, when we grow up. Are we grown when we graduate high school? When we graduate college? Get married? Have kids? I read about this question somewhere else, and it helped me understand that feeling I have deep down that I haven't quite been able to put my finger on. It's that feeling, that nagging doubt, that I am really not a grown up.

Some days I fit that grown up mold perfectly. I cook, clean, read books to little children, kiss boo boos, drive around town, grocery shop, pay bills...all those things grown ups are supposed to do. But other days, I just don't want to face it all. I want to be selfish. I want to lie in bed all day just doing nothing. I don't want to put everyone else first. I want to just deal with me. But I can't. Because I have responsibilities. I guess that's what makes a real grown up...the ability to realize when you're being selfish and moving past it to do whatever it is you need to do. Maybe I am more grown up than I thought. But a day in bed still sounds nice.

Football

On Saturday, my Apps (that's Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, for those of you who don't know) went head to head with LSU at Death Valley. Of course we were hoping for another upset a la Michigan in the Big House, but it just wasn't to be. It was a mostly respectable game and it seems App escaped without any major injuries (except maybe to Pressley, backup QB), which was our biggest fear. The first home game is on Saturday, and we'll be there, in our nice parking space that we paid way too much for and in our usual seats on the west side. We are super excited to start another season of tailgating and fully expect App to return to the championship game in Chatty for the fourth straight year. Fun stuff.

So, in the spirit of football season, and sorely disappointed that he's not old enough to play real football, Ry has been all over playing game football in the backyard with Shane. It's just cuter than words.

Finally, what kind of scrappin' mama would I be if I didn't do a LO with these adorable...I mean
super masculine...pics of my guy?
